The Preparedness POA&M (plan of action & milestones) is a weekly column focusing on skills, self-sufficiency and taskers needed to shore up those areas that will allow us to be part of the solution. As hard times continue to unfold and resources become scarce, the prepared mind strives to take steps to mitigate those eventualities. In order to shepherd our cause, we must have a plan of action and continuously evaluate our progress via milestones as we consider the path onward.

Lee's POA&M:
Afternoon, TBR Readers,
As I write this, we are preparing for a potentially historic snowstorm. It's supposed to arrive sometime late Friday evening or early Saturday morning. The current forecast has our area receiving 7–14 inches of snow. That's crazy for our location. Looks like the Grey tribe might be snowed in come next week. The tribe will bank those sledding hours if so. :-)
I purchased a new dishwasher a couple of weeks ago for Mamma Fitz. I just installed it last week, and Fitz is very pleased! Lowe's had a super deal on the GE dishwashers, so we couldn't pass it up. We have been resorting to the old time-tested process of washing our dishes by hand for the past three years. The entire tribe is elated to have a new dishwasher... especially daughters 1–3. :-)
I also cut and split a couple of ricks of wood this past week from some logging we had done in the past. There is a little rot since I didn't get to it in time, but most of it is good ol' seasoned oak. I still have to split some more and stack it on our porch.
The focus this week is on -> Oil lamps and oil.
In light of the pending storm that is approaching, I have been completing some much-needed inspection and inventory of our preps. Every prepper should think in terms of "layering." The concept isn't original with me, but it is a timeless principle within the preparedness community. Oil lamps and oil for those lamps are a must-have item for any retreat. It's quite probable that millions of people will lose power this weekend when the ice starts accumulating on the powerlines and trees. Meteorologists are even warning of possible 'exploding trees' and 'frostquakes' due to the expected temperature drops.
Taskers for the coming week...
Complete my four-day-per-week workout sessions (if the snow holds off).
Prep the driveway for the winter storm coming: icemelt, etc.
Continue research and writing on my forthcoming novel, A Mammoth Resistance.
Make a trip to town to shore up gaps for the storm arriving this weekend.
Read through/listen to the Book of Hebrews.
Folks, many in the intelligence sector are warning that the sound of war drums is growing louder in the distance. Now is not the time to ease up on your preparations. Keep the momentum going—steady progress, always forward.

Psalm 91 for all of us.
P.S. Don't forget about extra wicks!
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God, in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flieth by day, nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation, there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation."
